Appendix
Easter eggs
Though this novel is entirely fictional, there are hidden parallels placed throughout the story. Below, you will find a list of personal dates, phrases, inside jokes, and more between the author and his better half.
The Harper’s Address
Pg.1
This references a key date and location near to the author’s heart. Before he and his wife started dating, they happened to be alone together on December 18, 2018 on what they now consider their first unofficial date. It was here they visited an abandoned warehouse located in their hometown, on Rogers Street.
#21
Pg.7 , Pg.16
There are various references to the number 21: the year the author was married.
The clocktower
per totem
The clocktower could be interpreted many ways, but most obviously it appears as an abandoned building when it is first discovered by Grace and Jeremy. This links back to the same abandoned warehouse by which the couple found themselves courting each other all those years ago.
Groves
Pg.66
“Eco Groves,” located in Flutterbug Island, references a similar street name near their home.
Grün Grounds
Pg.56
Quite literally translated in German to “Green Grounds,” a small tribute to his wife’s heritage.
Flutterbug Island
per totem
The magical music festival Grace and Jeremy attend is a reference to the pseudonym used by the author for his musical dedications to his wife, Flutterbug.
